Hello. I'm Sue Blackburn, a qualified and accredited UKCP psychotherapist and BACP counsellor.

I work one-to-one with adults and young people, face-to-face in my practice rooms or via online sessions. I also tutor trainee counsellors online for the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).

During my twenties, I became very interested in counselling after a marriage breakdown left me bereft and heartbroken. Over the years, I underwent therapy myself. After discovering I had a twin sister who died young, I developed a better understanding of my earliest beginnings and the impact on my life. The journey of discovery was profound and life-changing.

I worked as a university lecturer and offered pastoral support to students, then found the space to retrain as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I’ve worked at schools and in further and higher education as a counsellor, since qualifying in 2015 as a BACP member.

Meditative practice is a daily part of my life

Mindfulness lets me look at myself - my being and my body to look at things more deeply so I can get closer to another person during sessions. Spiritual practice underlies my work - and I'm also a Quaker by conviction, where truth, peace, simplicity and time for each other are important, combined with a sense of belonging in the community.

The relationship between me as the counsellor and every client is unique

My practice is grounded in Buddhist Psychology and psychodynamic psychotherapy, and I work in an integrative way with a wide range of clients, from young people upwards. I adjust my practice to meet your needs, and we work together, empowering you to take the steps needed to find fulfilment and purpose.
